Where I Stand

The League of Women Voters recently asked all Town Board candidates in Milton to answer the following questions:

    • What are the two most critical issues facing your office? How do you propose to deal with them?
    • What do you want to achieve during your term?
    • What would you like voters to know about you?

Here are my responses:

The League of Women Voters recently asked all Town Board candidates in Milton to answer the following questions:

      • What are the two most critical issues facing your office? How do you propose to deal with them?

    Here are my responses:

  • Asking for Your 2025 Vote

If elected, I will be ONE non-GOP controlled vote on the Milton Town Board; my influence will be limited, but I will be able to provide CHECKS and BALANCES by ensuring you are informed. If you want to avoid lockstep votes and ensure public discussion, vote ONE and DONE for Michele Juda!
(ONE and DONE: cast only one vote for Michele for the two available Milton council seats. Do not add to vote totals for either of the incumbents.)
  • Asking for Your Vote on Election Day

It has been a beautiful fall spent going door to door to meet with my neighbors. I appreciate each and every conversation -- including, and perhaps especially, with those initially inclined to say "no way" to my candidacy. Being able to find common ground, learn about the day to day worries of our neighbors, and benefitting from the perspectives and experiences of others is what we need to move forward. Thank you to everyone who welcomed me at your door. I only wish there were more hours in the day so we could have reached everyone. Every person matters!

  • Ensuring Fairness and Best Interests of the Town in Hiring

At the Town Board meeting on Wednesday, October 23rd I called for information to be made available to the public regarding hiring practices, specifically what positions must be posted internally, for how long before making them available to the public, and how positions are advertised. As is typical, there was no answer provided as part of the public meeting.

  • Michele Juda’s Statement on the Tentative 2025 Budget

Last night the Town of Milton met briefly to conduct a Budget Workshop on the Tentative 2025 Budget. Next up, and still to be scheduled, will be a public hearing. Keep your ears perked at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Town Board for word on that.

The bottom line regarding the 2025 budget is that it is good news for taxpayers. The budget proposes no new tax increases, which is always welcome news. Reasonable taxes are one of the things we all love about our community. The devil is in the details, however. So, using my 10 years of experience managing large budgets and allocating expenses across various cost centers as part of my work in the nonprofit sector, here are my thoughts.
