The Community's Voice

Michele Juda for Milton Town Board

The Town of Milton is changing at a fast pace. Development is charging forward based on a Comprehensive Plan developed in 2001 and last reviewed and revised, by recommendation of a committee of five, in 2012. A critical step is missing — the creation of a vision for the Town that is relevant today and centers the voice of our community of neighbors and friends, not the ideas of a few.

In November we have an opportunity to elect a representative to the Town Board who will ensure communication with, and on behalf, of the residents. A representative who understands elected officials are first and foremost accountable to us. That representative is Michele Juda.

Michele is running to serve out the remainder of Councilman Frank Blaisdell’s term. A twenty-five-year resident of the Town of Milton, Michele has been an active citizen voice in town government for many years, frequently calling for transparency and accountability during public comment periods, regardless of which political party held the Supervisor's seat.

Michele and her husband, Mark, raised their two children in Milton, and impacted the lives of other Saratoga County children through their service as licensed foster parents. Their youngest son has a developmental disability (shared with permission) and required skilled nursing care well into his teens. This took Michele away from her social work career in long-term care, but after several years as a full-time mother, she emerged as an advocate for family caregivers of people with disabilities, currently serving as Executive Director for a statewide nonprofit. Most importantly, Michele cherishes and values the character of our small town and wants to ensure that Milton continues to thrive, while welcoming all who wish to call our community home.

Asking for Your Vote on Election Day

It has been a beautiful fall spent going door to door to meet with my neighbors. I appreciate each and every conversation -- including, and perhaps especially, with those initially inclined to say "no way" to my candidacy. Being able to find common ground, learn about the day to day worries of our neighbors, and benefitting from the perspectives and experiences of others is what we need to move forward. Thank you to everyone who welcomed me at your door. I only wish there were more hours in the day so we could have reached everyone. Every person matters!

Ensuring Fairness and Best Interests of the Town in Hiring

At the Town Board meeting on Wednesday, October 23rd I called for information to be made available to the public regarding hiring practices, specifically what positions must be posted internally, for how long before making them available to the public, and how positions are advertised. As is typical, there was no answer provided as part of the public meeting.
